Safety disconnections
Sometimes it’s safer to disconnect your power, either temporarily or permanently.
Temporary disconnection
Need to turn off your power for a short time? A temporary disconnection might be the best option for several reasons, including:
- Bad weather
- A power surge
- Maintenance on our power lines
- Work near your service line
If we’re planning an outage, we’ll let your electricity retailer know. They’ll contact you directly with the details.

Permanent disconnection
If you no longer need power at your property, you’ll need to request a permanent disconnection through your electricity retailer.
Here’s how it works
- Contact your retailer and let them know you’d like to be disconnected from the network.
- Your electricity retailer will contact one of our approved contractors.
- You’ll settle your final bill and confirm next steps with your retailer.
Safety first
Permanent disconnections for safety reasons are free of charge.
